(3:40 A.M)(3:41 A.M.)(3:42 A.M.) I’ve got heartburn, I’m so tired, I can’t sleep and I know I’m(3:43 A.M.) going to be grumpy in the morning.(3:44 A.M.) I keep staring at this clock and I can’t help but wonder if the clock is (3:45 A.M.)starting to stare back. I’m (3:46 A.M.) wondering if maybe I did something to offend Father Time because he is (3:47 A.M.) really making time go by slowly.(3:48 A.M.) I want to go back to sleep, but I can’t.(3:49 A.M.)(3:50 A.M.)(3:51 A.M.) Time might seem to be going fast because I haven’t(3:52 A.M.) written very much and a lot of time has passed, but I assure you it’s because I type really slowly.(3:53 A.M.)(3:54 A.M.)(3:55 A.M.) Whatever!

Oh how I know that feeling!!! I have actually gotten rid of all forms of clocks in my bedroom for this very reason. I use the alarm on my phone and after about 11 oclock or so I flip my phone over so I can’t see the time anymore. The only troubles I find are when I am working on my laptop – so I usually try and make a mental note to NOT look in the lower right hand corner – otherwise I have been known to cover it up – or watch a movie so I can’t see it. I learned this trick from a fellow insomniac and it has REALLY helped me … hope it helps you. xo
First, I would have your brother keep a nightly Sleep Journal for 2 weeks: What time did you go to bed? Approx how long to go to sleep? How many times did you awaken? About how many hours did you sleep? Time you woke up. Time drank last fluid? Time last ate? Time last consumed caffine? Provide this info to his MD
I also suggest you have your brother try a Sound Therapy System. I’m sure you have a supplier in AU. The STS will mask any irritating noises. More importantly, the relaxing sounds will take his mind off of the events of the day. STS have high fidelty sounds created by medical and sleep professionals.
Good luck
Hey – so I tweeted insomnia tips – and that you and I share the same problem – someone sent me this link:

maybe it will help – I only barely glanced at it.
